Re: Questions for the GMs
As most samurai do not carry around their stipend, how much would Jinkan be able to offer Jihen for alms? A zeni, bu, koku?

What percentage of your stipend do you suppose would be appropriate?

I am unsure. Would 5% be possible?

Re: Questions for the GMs
You can be assumed to have small change; it's doubtful even if you *did* have your full stipend on you that it would *only* be in koku.

Re: Questions for the GMs
Heiya!
I'm still a bit confused about how some things work in the Court Action system, so I figured it might be best asking instead of assuming wrongly.
1) If I understand correctly, a PC earns court points for themselves only through:
----------------
2) Also, if I understand correctly, the following actions add/ remove court Court points to/from others, but do not affect your own court points (which means it does not grant points to assign to your own wind of choice or house):
----------------
3) The actions above and the Court Points granted/removed based on them do not directly decide whether a proposition is accepted or not by the NPC presiding the court - I suppose it 'influences' them in some way, but it's not a case of 'a proposition is accepted if it has more points than its contenders and more than 0 points' or something like that?
--------------
4) This final one is more a question on court/game etiquette I guess. I'm assuming after someone 'Introduces their position', posts to 'introduce a position' should probably wait before the matter at hand is decided unless they are in direct opposition to the position originally made?
Using today's court as an example:
- If someone would like to introduce the proposal that Theatre is a lower art form and we should hold a Rokugani Free Jazz concert instead, that should be presented now, since it's in direct opposition to Shin's proposal
- If someone would like to introduce a proposal to validate a trade agreement giving all the Jade in the Empire to the Crab because that's how things should be, that should wait to be presented after the one Presiding the Court decides on Shin's proposal for a play
Is that correct? Or should we ignore that and present different proposals even before the first one is decided upon?
-----------
5) There's also a question on a different topic here:

----------------------
Thanks a lot!

1) If I understand correctly, a PC earns court points for themselves only through:
- Introducing their own position - which also means you must have 'something' to actually propose
- Presenting a gift - which if I'm reading correctly does not include an actual proposition, and cannot be used to support a proposition made by another character either
- Quashing debate with Raises
----------------
2) Also, if I understand correctly, the following actions add/ remove court Court points to/from others, but do not affect your own court points (which means it does not grant points to assign to your own wind of choice or house):
- Concur with another's position: Adds Court Points to the character who first made the proposal
- Refute another's position: Removes Court Points from the character who first made the proposal
----------------

4) New business will be held until old business is decided, yes.

Re: Questions for the GMs
Another minor question
The Forecourt mentions rules for reserving it. Does that mean any threads there need this kind of reservation? Does this need to be done one day in advance or something like that? Or is a reservation only needed for larger events, but not for simpler things like a conversation or some art practice between two or three people?
Thanks!

Reservations will also preempt use for smaller things, such as those you mention.
But if there is no reservation, then the space is open for use--to any or all. And there are some big players.

Oh, do you need to finish a proposal to the court on the same day that it is submitted or can you continue to plead your case?

Matters might occasionally be tabled, depending on other circumstances, and things can be reopened that have been closed, although the latter is done at some political (and possibly legal) peril.Doji Hikaru wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 9:01 pmOh, do you need to finish a proposal to the court on the same day that it is submitted or can you continue to plead your case?

Re: Questions for the GMs
Some OOC chat later, it turns out that I have two more questions on Court rules!
1) On Advance/Introduce Own Position:
Or does that only mean that you can introduce different positions during a court?
Asking in part because since Advance/Introduce generally earns more points than Support, which means introducing something and advancing it multiple times may be a bit 'too' beneficial (but perhaps I'm misreading something).
2) On Advancing Trade Deals
If I'm understanding things correctly, trade deals must be 'advanced' in court, and they are advanced by only one of the parties negotiating the deal - which means that in any specific Trade Deal, only one of those responsible for the negotiations will get Court Points for it. Is that correct?
1) On Advance/Introduce Own Position:
Does this mean that the character who introduced a position can use another Advance/Introduce action to "support" the same point after first introducing it? Maybe this is what the PC who introduced the point does instead of 'supporting' it?Multiple actions may be spent on doing this; results are cumulative.

Re: Questions for the GMs
1) Yes, you may advance your own position after having introduced it. And you can also introduce multiple positions during a court session; if you've got the Actions, you can keep bringing in new business. Yes, you can accrue a lot of points for doing it; be a mover and shaker!Yasuki Masaki wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 11:00 pm1) On Advance/Introduce Own Position:Does this mean that the character who introduced a position can use another Advance/Introduce action to "support" the same point after first introducing it? 2) Yes. Some might break deals up so that both partners in a bilateral agreement can advance ideas and get points.

When doing this, is it possible to make both halves of the deal still be contingent on each other? Otherwise it seems like you'd run the risk of passing only half of a whole treaty.Fukurokujin wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 11:23 pm2) Yes.
