We're looking for a work-around for that.
I don't know if this would be less or more work, but you could instead copy the text from your super sekret admin forum and paste them into a new post each time.

Another option be to include links to important threads in the weather thread each time (doing the copy-paste creating new thread with just the weather thread each time) that way you would just need to 'create' one thread teach time and the rest can be the simple moving

There is also a PHPBB plug-in that allows editing of post dates, although I’m not positive whether it resets read status. I could check…

Gift giving is typically a matter of courtesy; would it be acceptable to use Etiquette in that event instead of Courtier, perhaps without the possibility of gaining influence?

I'm afraid we will not be doing skill substitutions for event rolls in this game.

Okay, so! https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... post_time/ allows changing the post time in the MCP and this does seem to mark the post unread for newer users. Quirkily, though, it doesn't always seem to paint the parent forum icon the "new posts here" color when used that way. Also would require Canary to install it.

Then it occurred to me that the other, super easy option is just for our lovely GMs to move the topic to the correct forum and then reply to it with a quick "[Topic is now live]" or similar--this would paint the whole topic unread and make it show up in the active topics list without anyone having to do anything special with mod tools.

For the "Meet the Diamyo" events, are those Clan specific, or are they ways to introduce yourself to/observe other Clans?

Those are Clan-specific, yes. Others visiting will be given tea and told that those they seek will be available tomorrow.

blanket assumption that calling upon the kami is:

Absolutely not to be done in court without petitioning for permission of some sort. (fuzzier if Empress is not there)

Questions as to otherwise:

Not allowed on the grounds at all?
Allowed with permission?
Allowed in delegation's own space?

Yes, with a court game there is definitely the "can I use Benten's Touch?" question that I may as well get covered up front.

Fair questions, all.

Calling on the kami in court without petitioning for permission can be very bad for the caster if caught, Empress or otherwise; the Lord Ikoma is not likely to be all on board with many people doing magic in his house.

On the grounds is dicier. In the Imperial presence, it can be seen by the Seppun as a threat, with appropriate consequences. Outside it, the presence of high-ranking folks in other delegations makes it a possible threat outside explicit permission. So, I suppose it's "allowed with permission" on the grounds.

In the delegation's own space, it's much more acceptable, and in the delegate's own quarters in private, go for it.

I hope this helps.

Mostly helps! And hopefully helps anyone newish.

Still a question of Benten's Touch, with its 1 hour duration being something that could be done prior to a scene and carried along (i.e. not casting in a prohibited space, but carrying hmm..'activated kami' along into other spaces). Same for other longer duration magics.

Or: event scenes (specifically court scenes?) are inherently longer than an hour and nobody wants to adjudicate when the duration ends in the timey-wimey-ness of forum play, so that's just not going to be a thing. (which still leaves you with potential adjudication of longer duration ones)

One hour, we'll say won't carry over into the next slot. As an administrative convenience.

As to even longer ones...we'll cross that if and when we get there.

For events like 'Still Waters Run Deep' (where you need to get info from GMs before continuing after the first roll) do we need to ping a GM/put a link to Pf things here or just post it in pf?

I don't see a Request an NPC thread, and y'all are surely running at peak capacity at the start of Day 1, but thought I'd go ahead and followup on the pre-game correspondance and try to meet up with Ikoma-ke no kashin Kamoshita Kinuyo (Influence 2) (Bushi). If they're too busy today, that's fine, but they did request early in court and are you really a Lion if that doesn't mean first thing? :D

Posting in your pf is alright. It may take us a bit to get to it, but fear not, we will.

Just to triple check here:

Does this mean Benten's Blessing is not usable in events then? Asking because if it had to be cast during the event itself, it probably wouldn't be allowed - and apparently casting before going into the event is not a possibility.

If that is indeed the case, and if there is any event where Benten's Blessing or other buffs can be cast beforehand, could we please ask in advance for that to be signalled?

I feel getting that sort of statement in advance will be much easier for everyone than getting questions on what can/cannot be done before each event :)

Thanks!

Oh, you can *try* to cast during events (unless specified otherwise); it's just that getting *caught* can cause trouble for you. (See the Casting with Subtlety rules in the core book.)

We'll try to pre-flag events that grant "permission" for casting. We're human, though, so might miss some.
