[D11 EA - Expecting] Criminals in the Dock

[Daidoji Sae]

For all of his many faults, at least this criminal looked like a good actor.

"Nicely done Ryu-san.

Matsu-san, can you please take this man into custody of the Emerald Magistrates?"

[Matsu Masumi]

Masumi wondered if there was any chance that she could get closer without him noticing, like a cat creeping up on the prey. But no, no, it seemed like everyone could see things. She went to go grab the guy, hoping he wouldn't do anything silly like run away and resist.

[Cearnach]

"Hey! You grabbed me! I have been grabbed!"

[Daidoji Sae]

"Hey! You grabbed me! I have been grabbed!"

"Nice grab Matsu-san."
Sae looms over the funny looking fellow, their quarry, their prey.

"I believe you can assist us with an investigation we are conducting."

She nods at the other two to start walking and talking as they escort Buscemi-san to a slightly more private spot.

"First two questions. What is your name and why did you hire men to kill Tatsuya-san?"

[Daidoji Ryu]

Ryu followed along, scowling. It was a thoughtful scowl, though.

"Good grab indeed, Matsu-sama." He added as a quick aside.

[Cearnach]

"What? Me? Hire ronin to kill a guy?"


Steve Buscemi doesn't appear to want to just 'fess up.

BUT! A short, strenuous time later, as the crowds on the docks start looking in other directions and whistling, Buscemi admits that he is in fact Busaemi, the merchant! And that he has hired ronin from time to time to protect his shipments, but things were different this time. He got approached for his connections to the ronin world by a rich dude in a cloak and a basket hat. You could tell he was rich on account of the fact that he had a lot of money to throw at ronin, all to kill this other ronin up at the castle. So Busaemi goes to the gettin'-place and hires these ronin to go do the thing, pockets 60% of the fee, and goes on his merry way.

[Daidoji Sae]

"Be thankful the ronin you hired to kill a guy were incompetent enough to fail. You do understand you sent assassins into Kyuden Ikoma during Imperial winter court to kill the son of an emperor?"
Sae could never fully understand merchants, they seemed to be willing to take any risk for coin.

"I hope the Fortunes graced you with some more details about this mystery man. Anything that would help us identify or capture him."

[Cearnach]

"He was dressed nicely under the cloak, but we didn't share names or anything. Iguess I assumed that he came down from Winter Court so it must be alright with the biggins up there. I didn't know he was the Emperor's kid, just some ronin. Wait, witch Emperor?"

[Daidoji Sae]

"Local?" Double eyebrow raise, that was unexpected.

"Interesting, were they old or young? Could you recognise the voice if you heard it again?"

[Cearnach]

"Well, I might be able to recognize the voice. Would that stop me getting my head chopped off? I would like to not die."

"Despite every instinct in my body, no, I have no immediate plans for your head to be chopped off. If you can assist us in identifying the culprit I will testify as such."

Turning to her companions.
"Is there anything further before we take him into the castle?"

Ryu shook his head.

"Well, I might be able to recognize the voice. Would that stop me getting my head chopped off? I would like to not die."

Buscemi-san is taken into custody to provide what evidence and testimony he can!

It seems the investigation ends here for now, but Sae hopefully has enough to report up to Hajime!
