[D13, LA, EVENT] The Bowman's Wager, D3: They Do It with Horses, Don't They?
Much like the previous day, the archers will have the opportunity to fire 5 arrows at stationary targets. The catch is that they will do this while riding a horse along a defined track and looking good doing it. The targets today have been fashioned into the shape of likely game animals, plus a sheep. If you had never been on a hunt before, you could maybe see where this would simulate one.
In order to successfully shoot at a target, an archer must make a Horsemanship roll, tn 15. Every 2 Raises you call on this roll will lower the TN on your Target by 5. Should you fail this roll, your attempt is forfeit.
The Sheep Target: tn 15. A success on the Sheep target is 1 Archery Point.
The Bunny Target: tn 20. A success on the Bunny target is 2 Archery Points.
The Pig Target: tn 25. A success on the Pig target is 4 Archery Points
The Deer target: tn 30. A success on the Deer target is 6 Archery Points.
Each called raise on your Kyujutsu/Reflexes check will earn an additional Archery Point.
The competitors with the top 2 Archery Point totals will advance to Stage 4. Should two players tie for second place, the winner will be determined by the number of Raises called successfully. If that should still result in a tie, the higher Influence rank will proceed.

Daichi wasn't a horseman, he was an infantryman and liked his feet on solid ground. He had some idea of how to ride a horse at least. But firing a bow from one was a different story altogether and while he was close to the mark on most of his shots he only landed two.

They wanted him...on a horse? Like a Ki-Rin?
Of course they had to include something he had zero practice with. The Crane didn't use horse archers, why would they in a territory along the water? It is, to put it midly, a disaster

Shosuro Asakaze was the last to mount his horse. He accepted his Dai-kyu and urged his horse forward--but that's when disaster struck. Reports afterwards varied. Some would say the horse was spooked by a varmint on the pitch. Others would report a strange smell in the air. Still more would describe a look of panic on Shosuro Asakaze's handsome face as the horse bucked, reared, and then rolled, effective crushing him under its weight.

Bayushi Kaguya rushed onto the pitch ahead even of the Otomo and Miya from the Department of Sport. She crouched low by her stricken samurai, checking his injuries. Stories would be told of her generosity as she set and bound his broken legs (to the sound of his anguished grunts), with the torn hems of the layers of her kimono. She then ordered that he be carried to the Scorpion Delegation House by the Miya stretcher bearers, following close behind, the model of a lord with an interest in the well-being of her servants.
