Yuna took a deep breath.

"The water kami, yes. The shugenja ... it will be alright. He'll be fine."

"As you say, Agasha-sama."

Ryusei glanced out at the field.

"With the wrapping evnts for the day, I wonder if you would care to join me for some tea at the Phoenix house."

Sayomi likewise decided to focus less on the poor unfortunate soul, knowing the horse-related injuries could be quite bad. Though she hoped the horse would be alright.

"So it seems Hiruma-sama continues to tomorrow's final against Otomo Gorobei-sama..." she did sound impressed by Daichi's showing. He had seemed much more humble about his skills when she had encouraged both him and Ryoichi to showcase their archery previously!

Eiji nodded.

"An interesting arena for Otomo-sama to try and make his mark. I suppose tomorrow will truly be all or nothing for him." he said.

Ryusei bowed- formally- and led Yuna to [/exit] the thread.

And perhaps let her demonstrate some emotions in relative privacy.

Sayomi bowed to the departing pair without making a fuss about it. Everyone needed to handle death their own ways sometimes, especially if it was something they were unused to.

After a few moments, as the couple had left earshot, she could finally remark to Eiji; "I wonder if there is a Fortune for that kind of infatuation... if so, they are very touched by it."

Eiji chuckled behind his fan.

"Well, as you said to me, and Agasha-san said to me and I now say to you, Kitsu-san, 'I am no shugenja'" he said, amused that three people with shugenja family names yet none of them were.

"Were you to ask either of them, I am quite certain they would say 'Benten' before you finish saying the word 'blessed'" he remarked.

He looked at the Kitsu curiously.

"But everyone's spirituality is their own. And the Lion have always revered their ancestors before revering the Fortunes. I admit, I am curious what Kitsu-san would take as a sign as a blessing from Benten, if not such behavior." he asked, genuinely interested.

Sayomi raised one eyebrow, a slightly crooked smile forming on her lips before returning to its more polite expression.

"That is a good question. My parents had an arranged marriage, like most samurai do, and I know mother said they had their issues to work through in the start. But from what I can remember, they were always very kind and respectful to eachother," and fond of me.

She rubbed her chin briefly. "I suppose for me, the true blessing of Benten is the one that is an enduring fire, the one that burns through the darkest nights as well as the brightest days. It might take some time for all to find it though, since I think as with many Fortunes, we must earn such blessings." A small chuckle. "I pray for those two that their flame doesn't dim after the exciting first days have passed."

It WAS a little amusing to picture Yuna as a grumpy harridan bossing about a balding Ryusei...but mostly because it seemed pretty ridiculous.

"A very poetic way to put it, Kitsu-san." he said honestly. "To borrow your fire analogy, before you have a bonfire you need tinder, which you might think of their current affection as. And like any fire, as long as you make sure to continue to feed it, it will keep burning. More fuel makes a brighter and hotter fire."

He smiled a bit.

"I may not be able to predict the future like a certain scarred Mirumoto, but I hope their fire keeps them warm for many winters to come."

She smiled, hoping the best for the young couple. But something else Eiji said caught her attention.

"... Can he truly predict the future?" she asked, a touch unsure if anyone even could do that.

Eiji shrugs.

"So he claims. But..."

He looks about, before more slightly closer to the Kitsu. Not improperly close, just enough to make sure his words didn't travel beyond their intended ears.

"...I think that such a gift has come with a price. He is, shall we say, one or two steps beyond what one would safely classify as 'eccentric.'"

She grimaced briefly out of pity, murmuring some brief prayer that the ancestors would have mercy on someone who was a couple of swords short of a daisho.

"Well... I think it's time to return to business, with the show over now."

Eiji rose and bowed to the Lion.

"Indeed, it has been a pleasure to spend time with you Kitsu-san. May the ancestors watch over you." he said.
