[D15, MM] Da Hunt!

After the sun has risen, preparations are made for the hunting excursion. Spears and hunting bows are brought out to the outskirts of Kyuden Ikoma, to be lended to those who need suitable weapons for a proper hunt. Overall, it seems to be a relaxed affair, to take focus away from being concerned about the upcoming debate and the troubles of the past two weeks.

EVENT MECHANICS


Special Rule:
Hunting can be done solo or in groups of up to three characters.
A solo character rolls dice as normal, gaining no bonuses, but have a chance at glory for doing it on their own.
A group of hunters uses the first of the Cooperative Rolls rules, where one member is chosen as the leader for the Skill Roll, and receives a bonus to the total of their roll equal to the combined Ranks of all other participants in the Skill in question.

Find the tracks
Roll Hunting/Perception to find tracks. Once you have your result, you can choose which track to follow, depending on how well you rolled.
If you roll 10 or above, you find the tracks of easy prey, such as a rabbit or small bird. [Quarry #1]
If you roll 15 or above, you find the tracks of a large bird, or a boar's piglet. [Quarry #2]
If you roll 20 or above, you find the tracks of a young deer, or a doe. [Quarry #3]
If you roll 25 or above, you find the tracks of a boar. [Quarry #4]
If you roll 30 or above, you get lucky and can hunt the hart! [Quarry #5]


Take down the quarry
Having followed the tracks, you're at the point of completing your hunt.
Roll an attack, using Kyujutsu/Reflexes, Spears/Agility, or Knives (using Reflexes or Agility, with Reflexes for thrown). Remember, you don’t kill hunting animals with your grandfather’s sword!
Note: For simplicity’s sake Stances, School Techniques, and Kata don’t matter (it’s not a fight).

Quarry 1: TN 10 (you may alternatively roll Animal Handling/AwarenessTN 15, as you may use falconry instead of your own weapons).

Quarry 2: TN 15 (you may alternatively roll Animal Handling/Awareness TN 20, as you may use falconry instead of your own weapons).

Quarry 3: TN 20.

Quarry 4: TN 20, but you must also roll a Damage Roll, doing a minimum of 15 damage and overcoming 1 Reduction. (Damage rolls are not cooperative rolls)

Quarry 5: TN 25, but you must roll a Damage Roll, doing a minimum of 15 damage and overcoming 3 Reduction. (Damage rolls are not cooperative rolls)

Yuna went hunting by herself, with a falcon at the ready.

She had no real skill at hunting or falconry, but she was perceptive and had certain people-pleasing instincts that might translate to the adorable bird she was assigned named Yoshiki.

She introduced herself to Yoshiki and brought him tasty treats that the groom promised were good to feed falcons.

And they set off!

"I bet you are good at hunting birds, Yoshiki-sama. Let's look for one together!"

And there was a little bird.

"You can do it, Yoshiki-sama!"

One small bird acquired!

"Let's find a bigger one! Oh, it's hard to tell. Is it bigger or just closer? Oh wait. Look! There! That's a big one! Fetch!"

One large bird acquired! "

Such a good boy! Have a treat! Good job, Yoshiki-sama!"

She returned to the groom in high spirits. Her chef might know what to do with these birds! Or perhaps she should turn them in somewhere? She looked around, excited to see what Shiba-san found with his team of much better hunters!

So fun! Could she teach a falcon to hunt fish right out of the water? An important question for life on Sandpiper Island. She asked the groom if falcons can hunt fish. Yes! They could!

Sanjuro only came to watch the event. He was not particularly qualified to participate. He nodded to the participants and cheered them on or cheered them up depending on how they did.

It was good to see those who had worked so hard during this court have a chance to participate in the hunt out of doors. He was glad Sayomi had organized this event on the final day of court. It was a nice distraction after last night.
