[D15, MM] C-Tier Hunting
Posted: Mon Feb 10, 2025 8:10 pm
by Kitsu Sayomi
(for Sayomi, Eiji, and Ryusei)
Sayomi looked very comfortable in her more sturdy clothing along with her bow and quiver on her back. This was her more natural surrounding that court, even if she had a knack for it.
"Good morning, minna-sama," she greeted the other two warmly. "Ready for some fresh air and maybe some game?"

Eiji arrived dressed in clothing more suitable for travel through the Hinterlands with a borrowed bow and arrow quiver from the Lion armory. The mask was the same though.
"The weather is overcast, but it feels like a sunny day with good company." he offered. "It'll be good to spend some time connected to nature."

"And to remember I'm a bushi!"
Ryusei chuckled.
"The Bowman's Wager aside, I's been a while."

Sayomi only raised an eyebrow, then chuckled. "Did you used to hunt in this area before you married into the Scorpion, Soshi-sama?" she asked, checking over her gear.
----
Sayomi gives +2 to the Hunting roll (2 ranks of Hunting).

Eiji grinned.
"I mean, your mind is just too keen, Shiba-san, that we just want to assume that you've spent tiny sharpening it rather than having it hit with swords." he joked.
"But if you're truly struggling to remind others you're a bushi, you should arrange a sparring session with Lady Matsu. I think she was truly disappointed she didn't get to pummel me yesterday. You could give her an outlet and be taught a lesson all at once."
He nodded to Sayomi.
"From time to time. The lands of the Lion are large, and I only spent some time at Kyuden Ikoma. It's a pretty prestigious posting, so I often found myself at smaller courts." he admitted.
(OOC: So it's up to me to roll hunting with a +2 to the roll? Just checking since I think Ryusei had no hunting, so I don't think he contributes under 4e?)

"Lady Matsu? Hm. I think Agasha-sama might take issue with my not surviving until the wedding..."

"Oh, don't worry," Sayomi laughed politely. "Lady Matsu would not kill you. Just... give you a good beating."
And she never wished to be on the receiving end of that wrath herself.

Eiji studied the ground.
"Hmm, game's surprisingly active for this time in the season." he said, before picking the quarry to puruse.
(Per/Hunting: 32
Link!) Choosing Quarry #5, the Hart.

Ryusei followed the Soshi's lead as carefully as he knew how, which wasn't very, but they seemed to be after something pretty substantial.

"Must be the warm weather, and the earthquake could have made them venture outside their normal spots to locate food..." Sayomi remarked in hushed tones, following Eiji's lead.
A hart would be quite the prize to take. The kind that would make folks famous for the season sometimes. Today though, there was bigger topics overshadowing everything else.

It was there in some nearby woods that the group came across their quarry. The woods had fallen eerily silent, footsteps seeming to be swallowed up by the trees. And there, serenly nibbling on some winter shrub, was not a unicorn, but the greatest test of a hunter's skill: a massive red hart.

A hush fell over Sayomi as she saw what the tracks had led them to. It had taken a while to find it, but it was a worthy find indeed!
Readying her bow, she looked to Ryusei to coordinate their attack.
----
OOC: Sayomi can shoot for 7k3 or provide +4 to the total of the attack.

Ryusei kept his own bow on his back- the hart was magnificent, and he wasn't about to insult it by taking a shot that should go to a worthier archer.
So he instead pulled out an arrow and used its fletching as a wind gauge to guide Sayomi as best he knew how.
[OOC: Ryusei rolls 4k3 or provides a falt +1, and the latter seems far more useful here

Eiji held his breath and provided Sayomi an amazing +0 to her shot.
It was all in her hands.

The winds were favorable, she could tell from Ryusei's guidance. No wind to carry their scent to the hart and spook it, and none coming from left or right to stress her aim too much. She adjusted her aim based on his pointers.
Her breath stilled, and then the arrow was let loose. Carried by a good wind, it struck home. The arrow was deadly, and while the hart didn't buckle under right away, its end was swift. Sayomi gasped softly to inhale air again, seeing the success.
-----
D14. MM. Da Hunt. Take Down The Quarry. +1 from Ryusei. +1k1 Void. 1 Raise for Damage. | 8k5+1 ⇒ 53 (TN: 30) (ugh, rolled the correct amount, but kept 1 die too much. Still a success!)
D14. MM. Da Hunt. Take Down The Quarry. Damage roll. +1k0 from 1 Raise. Reduction 3, must do at least 15 damage. | 5k2-3 ⇒ 16 (TN: 15)
C-Tier Team takes a Hart! And gains the bragging rights for it! Good job team.

The held breath turned into a whistle.
"Well shot indeed, Kitsu-san." he complimented her.

"Thank you. I don't think I would have found such a great target on my own though. I'm glad to have had you both here to make this happen." She of course gave praise were praise was due. It was a team effort.
She sighed with a certain relief in the tone. "We've truly been cooped up inside far too long these weeks!"

Eiji grinned, a stray gust of wind ruffling his hair.
"It has been, of course, Kitsu-san's trip home is far shorter than Shiba-san and mine. By the time I complete the trip home, I'll probably be ready to be cooped up again awhile."
