After the harrowing adventure of the priests' ritual, Shinnosuke makes his way back from the hinterland... not to the castle, but rather to a certain address in the castle town, fully in the world of the living. Earlier that day he had, probably at some expense, got hold of a few greenhouse-forced yellow asters--miniature sunflowers, now looking very bright in the lamplit night arranged on a sunset-indigo folding fan. A gentleman never lets a poem go un-matched, after all.

And because Shin is nothing if not a gentleman, possibly we'll draw a discreet and elegant curtain across the rest of this scene.
