[D3, LE, Closed] Night Caller

Post by Cearnach » Tue Jan 14, 2025 3:39 am

Goroh had only been home about 20 minutes, enough time to take off his shoes and get a small fire going, when the knock came at the door.

As always when he wasn't expecting a visitor, Goroh did as protocol demanded. He took up his knife and slipped out the back.

Hugging the wall, he ducked low and came around the corner knife first into the alley between his place and Bo's, catching the man sent to cover his escape root in the groin, neatly severing the artery. Reversing quickly, Goroh ducked back around the corner, jumped, grabbed the edge of his roof, and hauled himself upwards. It took him another two seconds to crawl to the peak and peer downwards.

From there, he could see the men out front. Five of them. Shit. How had he been compromised? How did they know?

He flexed his fingers around the knife. Five. Too many. Better to burn this and run.

"Merda!" he heard a stage whisper from the alley to his right. "Ele matou o Gustavo!"

Weird, but unwelcome. He shifted to his left, peered downwards. Clear. He jumped to the opposite roof, but hissed as his foot went through the cheap tiles Damn it, Taki! and became lodged, pitching him backwards violently and dangling him into the alleyway.

That's how they found him, staring murder and threatening them with his knife while dangling upside-down from the edge of a roof by his broken ankle. They made it quick. Cleaning the blood out of the alleyway took longer. Much of the night, in fact. But the next day, Goroh made his way back up to Kyuden Ikoma right on schedule.
