Hoshiko nods, slowly. "Even those tales told from a non-human view are those that are humanlike, or can appear and act human--the shapeshifters or snow maidens. I wonder if we'll ever see one told from a less human view?"
"I can well believe that any glimpses in dreams or otherwise would be so strange that we couldn't process it as memory. Maybe those of us who deal in strange things that most do not could process more? The experience of entreating spirits who do not think in human ways, or visiting realms that challenge our perceptions, offers an opening..." She laughs a bit. "Though I can't say any of that has made my past lives open up for me. And, as you say, the study of the people in front of us is going to be plenty to keep us busy this winter!"
She looks at the silent buildings once more, then up at the stars, shifting through the hours. "Thank you for entertaining my stumbling through the theological weeds tonight. I will have the books sent over to you, and hope we can talk about all of this more deeply through the winter."
