[D13, MA] Open RP thread - Festival for Musubi-no-Kami

[Agasha Yuna]

Yuna smiled at the advice.

"It makes sense to me. You cannot pour for another from an empty tea pot. It is perhaps breaking the word 'happy' down into the rivers that run into it. There is 'gratitude'. A grateful heart is happier. A grateful heart notices what is splendid about the other, and pauses to give thanks and experience the pleasure of the observation. There is also 'joyful interest'. I enjoyed Go before I met Shiba-san, but the fact that there was something I enjoyed created the opportunity for us to enjoy it together. I enjoyed theology before I met him, but we are bridging and sharing and learning, and that is its own joy. I had things that made me happy before i met him. And they can now be part of our shared happiness. If I were long joyless, I might be seeking a partner to fill that hole in me. And that is a heavy burden to put on another. Easier to be a wellspring of happiness, both."

[Soshi Eiji]

Having decided on which story to perform, Eiji bowed out of the conversation briefly to go tell a tale of finding understanding in marriage, though he would certainly return back to the group once it was told.

[Kitsu Sayomi]

Sayomi placed her painting and it's accompanying written tale up with the other exhibitions, and breathed a small sigh of relief.

There sure had been a lot of festivals and artistic events this season! Hopefully Akodo Sanae was proud of the Lion's showing.

[Shiba Ryusei]

Yuna smiled brightly to see Ryusei. "Shiba-san, I am so glad you could attend. Perhaps at some time later you and I could pray at the shrine together."

"Agasha-sama, I would be delighted..."

At Tomaru's advice, Ryusei... nodded.

Then i am well on my way...

[Agasha Yuna]

Yuna smiled to see Kitsu-san and gave her a friendly wave and bow, encouraging her to join the conversation.

"Kitsu-san, I'm so glad to see you brought a painting. I'm looking forward to going over and looking at it closely. But I can see the composition is striking, even from here."

She nodded happily at Shiba-san's offer.

"Let's go over a little later, once I've had a chance to greet everyone."

[Yasuki Ryoichi]

Ryoichi bowed to the arriving Sayomi as well.

"It's very good to see you again, Kitsu-san," he said politely. "I hope you are doing well?"

[Seppun Tomaru]

For his part, Tomaru gives a nod to the new arrivals, but he sees the young folks are in conversation, so he stands back and watches them.

[Agasha Yuna]

Yuna steps aside to put her artwork up, and to pray with Shiba-san at the altar...

[Kitsu Sayomi]

Yuna smiled to see Kitsu-san and gave her a friendly wave and bow, encouraging her to join the conversation.

"Kitsu-san, I'm so glad to see you brought a painting. I'm looking forward to going over and looking at it closely. But I can see the composition is striking, even from here."

Accepting the invitation, Sayomi bowed to those gathered as she was included.

"Thank you, Agasha-sama. It was a challenge to find a theme for Musubi-no-kami that would represent the Fortune respectfully." Imagine the scandal of trying to depict the Fortune herself.

Ryoichi bowed to the arriving Sayomi as well.

"It's very good to see you again, Kitsu-san," he said politely. "I hope you are doing well?"

"It's good to see you again too, Yasuki-sama," she bowed politely in return. "I am well, thank you. I hope the ancestor have been kind to you?"

[Kuni Shiori]

Shiori was also present at the event. It seemed appropriate that she should attend, considering she would be joining the ever-growing conglomerate of married samurai in the future. It was strange, considering that this wasn't even on her radar and then suddenly it felt like it was everything in her life. She hadn't even met the groom yet but that often comes later for many marriages, she's been taught.

It might have been all too easy to lose herself in the offerings of delicious snacks and plentiful alcohol at the end but Shiori found herself curiously drawn by the Tanabata streamers that had been set up for the event, representing the weaving craft. They were rather colourful and adorable in their own way.

[Yasuki Ryoichi]

"It's good to see you again too, Yasuki-sama," she bowed politely in return. "I am well, thank you. I hope the ancestor have been kind to you?"

"Kind indeed, Kitsu-san," Ryoichi said with a smile. "With most of our inter-clan business sorted out and the sumo tournament over, I find I have a lot more free time to enjoy Winter Court."

"I ... have to admit, I spent far too much time trying to lobby those sumai. And to little benefit." He chuckled ruefully. "This lovely festival is a welcome respite."

[Kitsu Sayomi]

"Kind indeed, Kitsu-san," Ryoichi said with a smile. "With most of our inter-clan business sorted out and the sumo tournament over, I find I have a lot more free time to enjoy Winter Court."

"I ... have to admit, I spent far too much time trying to lobby those sumai. And to little benefit." He chuckled ruefully. "This lovely festival is a welcome respite."

"The sumo was quite entertaining though," she remarked kindly. "Why was your time spent with them of little benefit in the end?"

[Jihen]

For his part, Tomaru gives a nod to the new arrivals, but he sees the young folks are in conversation, so he stands back and watches them.

A young man with no relation to any of the specific goings on comes to occupy the space beside the elderly statesman.

"A rather enjoyable event to watch from the wings is it not?"

[Yasuki Ryoichi]

"The sumo was quite entertaining though," she remarked kindly. "Why was your time spent with them of little benefit in the end?"

"Ahh, I hoped to convince them to acknowledge our mutual friend, Tatsuya-san, before the tournament," Ryoichi confided. "Due to his, ahh, unconventional origin, I thought the recognition might help his cause. Alas, many other courtiers had the same notion for their own purposes, so in the end, only loyal Miyagino stayed the course. Though, in fairness, the regard of a Yokozuna is no small thing." The Yasuki gave a small shrug.

"But on another note, I quite like the painting of the Weaver Girl that you've contributed to the festival," Ryoichi commented. "It's so well done! I almost expect her to step off of the paper."

[Hiruma Daichi]

Daichi had thought about skipping the festival for Musubi-no-kami, having little interest in it himself, all the various festivities were honestly wearing on him and he should probably be concentrating on the coming contest instead of this. Agasha-san was an acquaintance though, and he'd likely be scolded by his mother if he didn't offer a prayer to the Fortune of marriages to bless the Matches made for his siter and his cousin.

So have a relatively short visit to the shrine to offer his devotions he stepped into the common area as it were, and towards the tables holding various treats. Conversation for the moment could wait.

Yuna returned from setting up her art and praying at the shrine.

She circulated and greeted Kuni-san, Hiruma-san, and Jihen-san.

"I'm so glad you all could come! Are you planning to share an offering piece of art or prayer or other performance? Or to pray for blessing for a marriage?"

She smiled brightly at Kuni-san. "I know you've had recent good news with your Moshi husband-to-be. Is he going to be traveling to Kuni lands after winter court?"

[Seppun Tomaru]

A young man with no relation to any of the specific goings on comes to occupy the space beside the elderly statesman.

"A rather enjoyable event to watch from the wings is it not?"

Tomaru gives Jihen a short bow.

"There are benefits to standing outside things," he says. "And congratulations, Jihen-san. Word is passing among the Miharu and the Guard of your impending appointment."

"I'm so glad you all could come! Are you planning to share an offering piece of art or prayer or other performance? Or to pray for blessing for a marriage?"

She smiled brightly at Kuni-san. "I know you've had recent good news with your Moshi husband-to-be. Is he going to be traveling to Kuni lands after winter court?"

"Thank you for hosting such an occasion, Agasha-sama," she would say in return as she was greeting, bowing politely to show her gratitude. "At the very least, I'll be praying to Musubi-no-kami for good fortune in my future arrangements. This is admittedly new territory for me, I hope I will be blessed with inspiration as well. The contributions so far have been wonderous."

"I'm not so sure..." she said at first with a sheepish. "I don't think the trip will be made so soon, to be honest. I have a feeling that the strict tradition of one year from arrangement to marriage will be observed in the Centipede Clan."

[Jihen]

Tomaru gives Jihen a short bow.

He looks over the gathering crowd.

Tomaru nods.

"Duty makes its demands, but I still meet them," he says.

He takes a deep breath, holds it, releases it.

"But it remains good to see the youth at ease and in amity, however long it will last."
