Haku knows the word breakfast, and immediately abandons Sadako to trot over to Hoshiko and stare up at her, tail wagging furiously. Shinnosuke smothers a chuckle. "I apologize for Haku's lack of courtesy, Seppun-sama. Thank you for your labors on behalf of all our safety," he adds with much more seriousness, bowing.

"A dog does but his kind," Sadako says, "so no apology needed for him. Nor yet are thanks needed; I but do my duty."

[Asahina Hoshiko]

Hoshiko bends to scritch behind the silky ears. "Haku certainly serves as well as he can." No doubt he can catch his name too, while being disappointed that breakfast didn't magically appear.

"Duty may not require thanks, but some days it makes it lighter," she adds to Sadako. "If we may do anything more concrete to lighten the load, we're happy to hear of it, as well. Thank you also for coming this morning, it saves me that report so I may do some other research."

[Seppun Sadako]

"I shall look forward to reading about what you find, Asahina-san," Sadako says.

"But for now, I have other meetings."

She closes her eyes.

"Many other meetings."

There is definite sympathy in the priestess's eyes as she acknowledges the winter's busyness and bows a farewell. "May the fortunes guard us all until we meet again."
