The tea, conversations, gossip, implied favours and implied threats, the ceaseless hours of negotiation, the regret, the rebuttals and the arguments had all come down to this.

The Delegation would present the offers currently poised to go forward to Doji-Dono herself. Her wisdom (and formal sign-offer) were a crucial part of moving forward.

Sae just hoped they had done enough.

Together, the delegates approached their Champion's room.

Hoshiko smoothed her sleeves, entirely unnecessarily. "Good to push a few through early and see how hard that's going to be in the court."

[Doji Hikaru]

Hikaru likewise discreetly preens to ensure a stately mien.

"I hope she's pleased" there is no begging to the words, but perhaps wistfulness

[Doji Minehime]

The three are shown into Lady Doji's receiving room, where she sits at tea. Looking up to see them, she smiles. "An auspicious gathering. Have you something to report?"

[Doji Hikaru]

Hikaru bows. "If I may Lady Doji, I believe I have an arrangement that I believe you could remark quickly upon. I believe the others have matters or more import, but may take more time for review.

"The Tortoise are offering 2 units of naval supplies and 2 units of dyes for 4 total units of rice." Hikaru begins bluntly. "It does not completely fill our requirements, but I believe it is at a rate we can afford and brings up closer to our goal."

[Doji Minehime]

"That is all that Izumi had to offer, hm? Well, so be it. This is an acceptable enough exchange. I wonder if the Mantis may provide what she could not?"

[Doji Hikaru]

"Thank is likely my next stop Lady Doji" Hikaru bows. "After supporting these other motions" He gestures to the others.

[Daidoji Sae]

Sae steps forward and bows deeply before presenting two scrolls, one wrapped in dark green, the other in gold.

"Through our efforts we have two preliminary deals, one with the Dragon, the other the Lion."

She sets them down before her Champion and, if given the nod, will unroll them one at a time.

Dragon to sell: 4 gold, 3 jade, 5 arms, 1 marriage (Crane into Dragon), 1 Dragon only spiritual commodity.

The Two Clans Agree to a formal alliance.

After poring over the scroll for a moment. "There is much to appreciate about this deal. Do we know the nature of this spiritual commodity?"

Crane sell: 5 iron, 6 tea
Lion sell: 3 copper, 7 rice + Lion art service + marriage (Lion into Crane) and agree to a peaceful rapprochement.

"And as to this deal, this is...in essence, more than I could have hoped for so early in the season. We are certain that the Lion Clan leadership has agreed to this in full?"

[Daidoji Sae]

Sae bows her head. "It reflects the spiritual wisdom of their Clan, or so I am told. We will be glad to have it.

As for the other agreement, there was significant back and forth and its terms were changed to ensure they were acceptable to both parties. I am thankful for its outcome and hope it can be passed."

[Doji Hikaru]

"I believe Daidoji-san, Doji-sama. The deals offer considerable short team concessions on our part to both the Lion and Dragon, traded off for longer term goals" Hikaru adds

"It is a lot, and if all proposals are submitted it will draw attention...if there would be a day to but them before the Court I would think the next meeting is quite possibly the best chance we would have for some time to move them through."

[Doji Minehime]

"I must say the haste makes me uncomfortable, but I also understand your reasoning. Hajime will be of help, I am sure."

She folds her hands. "Well, I must commend you on a job very well done. If these agreements make it through the teeth of the opposition we are certain to face, then I think we shall have dealt a great blow to our enemies and marked the first step in the rehabilitation of our clan."

[Daidoji Sae]

"We will all endeavour to make it so. These deals are the result of great effort from across the delegation, everyone shall push to have them passed through the court."

Sae nods at her Champion's words, relaxing a fraction of an inch.

"Hopefully it is only the first step of many along our path."
