"Omens, and my general sense for the narrative structure of our lives." The Mirumoto replied, putting his things away safely.

"The next attack on her will not be by men in the night. I would get someone to taste her food." Jinkan said and then looked around his room to make sure everything was back in place.

"Well, actually if I was going to harm her I would find whatever moment in the day she passes her children to someone she trusts, suborn or otherwise incapacitate that person, take her children, and then use them to destroy her ability to continue to be a candidate. I expect that in circumstances like this she has dedicated time to her self. Grooming, or bathing, or court. She would be separated then. Send a letter saying 'we have your kids' with a little evidence like a tiny palm print or some small trinket she could recognize, lead her into a dark corner of the city after having her escape her Miharu protection, and then stage some kind of criminal attack, or fire."

"The narrative...structure." Right. "You have certainly given this some thought, but I can assure you Doji-san and her family-" especially her family, "-are well protected. Any such attempt would be dealt with. Still, we will redouble our efforts."

Sae shoots Jinkan a slightly discomfited look.

"I pray nothing like that occurs to any of the Winds, even Otomo-sama. And I would advise you keep such speculation to yourself or trusted others. Those are ill words."

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

"Even Otomo-sama? One would suspect you dislike the advisor." Jinkan laughed, and then opened the door of his room to walk her out the front.

"Ill words for ill omens. If what I saw happens then I will avoid saying 'I told you so' in person." The Mirumoto paused. "Wait, I mean, I will do my best to help in any way possible to ensure the safety of every honorable samurai in the court."

" 'Dislike' is certainly not the word I would use Mirumoto-san." Sae's expression is carefully neutral as she follows the Dragon back out.

"Yes, thank you, the second one is preferable. Even if it is the former that is the greater temptation."
She bows politely.
