"It is late in court, and perhaps I am wrong about the Centipede's intentions, but either way it is merely what we must deal with in a year when we suffered a greater loss of materiel than we ought to have done. No use directing the fire at one's self."

Sayomi nodded once more, though it didn't dispel the shame quite yet.

"Then, I will assume the Centipede's deal will go forth as is, yes?" The Fox one needed some more work due to the clause, but she had ideas of who to speak with about it.

"I also have two marriages for your approval, regarding our agreement with the Crab."

"I assent to the Centipede deal. What is the next matter?"

"Our trade agreement with the Crab came attached with two marriages; one to join the Crab, one to join the Lion."

"After meeting with the matchmaker along with a representative of the Crab, we selected Ikoma-ke no kashin Sugawara Michisumi to marry the brother of the Crab Clan Champion, Hida Shukichi. From the Crab, Hiruma-ke no kashin Tetsumura Nozomi, sister of one of the Crab delegates, is to marry Akodo-ke no kashin Mitsui Koji." Sayomi bowed curtly. "I hope these matches meet your approval."

They were both very prestigious and high-status marriages, something she felt needed the direct approval of one of the Lords of the Lion.

"Secondly, it seems the Crab are also interested in another marriage with one of our own, ah, specifically I am of interest to both Yasuki Ryoichi-sama and Hiruma Daichi-sama. I have asked Akodo Kenji-sama to handle any such negotiations on my behalf." It would be improper to manage her own match for the Lion's greater good.

"But since they seemed interested in further deals, I brought up the possibility of connecting our interest in relocating the Emerald Champion's auxillary office with the Crab-Scorpion initiative to strengthen the rivers against piracy."
