As a guard, Sayomi was sensitive to noises like shouting and sounds of battle, so she awoke quickly when a kiai rang through the night.

But apart from grabbing her sword and bow, her instinct was to run to the daimyo's villa. Mostly out of habit, as she had been on guard there often enough and trained to go to her station. But the other factor was that she worried attackers might come for other targets as well.

"What is going on?" she asked the first Lion guard she could spot.

"Something about assassins, Kitsu-san! Came from over by the temples." the guard replies.

"We're glad you're here!!" says his partner.

"Aye, I heard it too from that direction," she nodded. "Is everyone here safe and accounted for? It could be a diversion to draw attention away from here."

While there were more important guests in the tenshu, Sayomi had faith that Sadako and the other Seppun saw to the safety of the Imperial guests.

"No, not a thing!"

"They're fools to come to Kyuden Ikoma! We'll have them out of here soon enough!"
