Meanwhile, Naughty Guy with a Spear #2 tries to poke Hiruma Daichi, whose armor TN has gone up by 5 from last round, because the Hiruma school is interesting and flavorful!

Attack Hiruma Daichi | 9k3 ⇒ 26 (TN: 25) -15 from wound penalties (they're real, I tell you!) means that poor SOB rolled a 13. Daichi effortlessly bats away his paltry efforts.

That makes it Matsu Tsuruyo's turn.

For precisely the same result. She was nothing if not consistent. Now to see just how ugly this can get.

Matsu Tsuruyo turns Skulkmeister #2 into a fine red mist with 141 damage. With Masaki's 15, they nearly kill this guy 3 times over.

Technically, I believe spending Void for damage twice in a round was illegal. Not that it changes the outcome, here. But Lady Matsu didn't quite do this much damage.

[Asahina Hoshiko]

Hard on Sae's heels, Hoshiko is less able to dodge the pools of blood, barely noticing in the chaos of the night. It's not as if she could avoid stepping in the rather large amount of blood splattered around Tatsuya. The temple would need days of cleansing.

"The water kami will feel rather strange, please do not resist their attentions."

Indeed, they respond so strongly that the air around them grows heavy with vapor for several long breaths.

With the attackers quickly moving out of sight, Ryu hurried over to where the rest of the Crane were, bow still held in his hand.

"Is everyone alright?" He asked, his voice tight, his face a touch pale and drawn, a mix of stress and interrupted sleep.

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

Mirumoto Jinkan is not done fighting! He moves 40' toward the last remaining enemy!

[Yasuki Masaki]

Yasuki Masaki cuts contact and heads toward the shrine to be of healing help (I assume!).

[Doji Arai]

Doji Arai closes the last 20' of distance with the spear dude. She is ready to work him woe next round, should he still draw breath!

[Cearnach]

Ryoichi and Honoka continue their activities.

[Akodo Kenji]

Kenji leapt into striking range. This time he threw his weight into an attack designed to bring the assassin down but keep him alive for questioning.

There was a blur as his sword pierced the man's defenses at the last moment, lightly slashing his legs and, unless there was a miracle, probably sending him crashing to the ground.

Kenji's katana was swiftly levelled at the bad guy's throat.

"Lie still. You are beaten."

Man's at 50/57 wounds. He is Down (-40 Wound Penalties) and prone. He chooses surrender, because while death is sometimes preferable, what Lady Matsu just did to that other guy looks like it hurt.

On her way back, she makes sure to cross ways with the Matsu daimyo. She offers a bow and a few words. "Interesting swordsmanship style those attackers. Thank the kami you were here to prove that yours is better. To the annoying Terror of Shiro Hana next. One cannot play with the reputation and honor of true samurai, no?"

The Yasuki remembered the gang that he, Sae and Sayomi had faced on the streets of Ryoko Owari. Could these be them? he wondered. It seemed doubtful. Tatsuya had moved up to a newer, higher class of enemy.

They," she gestures back towards the temple where the bodies of the attackers lie, "dishonor their schooling and their sensei. She dishonors her family, her name, even the dead. They chose to attack from the shadows, but we fought them under the light of honor and won. She seeks to face me, but she deals in bribes and gossip. The Ishimoto only deal in steel and bushido."

"Okay...well, I'm sure that's great for the Ishimoto. But we just killed some ronin, some of whom might be ex-Lion. Of course they're dishonorable. But now you're bringing my vassal into it and calling her dishonorable. Are you trying to pick a fight? Is that what is going on?"

With the attackers quickly moving out of sight, Ryu hurried over to where the rest of the Crane were, bow still held in his hand.

There's a quick nod, and tense once-over that eases as it's apparent he isn't hurt. Her eyes are huge with the adrenaline catching up and the very unhappy realization of how much blood they're standing in. She had considered offering another prayer for Tatsuya's healing, but pauses at his words.
