D3 EM: The Library Carries On

[Ikoma Tanji]

Ikoma Tanji takes a light breakfast before entering the library again. He only just managed to get to an isolated corner before the very ground shakes. He grabs a table for support and braces through the worst of it.

After being certain that the walls will not fall down around him, he returns to the reception desk to see if there is any sort of emergency plans that need an extra hand. (OOC, is Taro-san working the counter again or is it a new face?)

"Oh, no, Suitai-sama," the boy says. "Kamoshita-san was back home last night."

His eyes widen.

"Do...you think any of the buildings in town fell down, Suitai-sama?"

"I can not tell from here, but at least this building seems to be unharmed so far. If that's the case, I doubt the earthquake took down any buildings in this town, but there's still work to be done and your senseis will be likely be setting up a plan shortly. Now we can patiently wait for their instructions while continuing to fulfill our duties. " (Assuming standard etiquette?)

"The Library is...strengthened, Suitai-sama," the boy says. "But you are right; the sensei will know what to do."

He calmly waits with the children, looking around to see if there are any changes in plans with what just occured among the senior staff. While doing so, he takes the time to skim through the texts he could see in the immediate vicinity. Busy work should help to calm the nerves. (Assuming just fluff before I make the roll since there's still no mechanical benefit from the library since I already have sage)

Interestingly, other than what appear to be more than the usual number of conservators going around the stacks in earnest, there do not appear to be any changes to goings-on.

The boy asks "Was there something in particular you wanted to look into, Suitai-sama?"

Among preparations for Winter Court, which are many and convoluted--the documentation about the Lord Kaiu's machinery is itself no slim volume and quite technical, exceeding the ability of at least one GM to describe it convincingly--there seems to be an urge to more openly and fully engage with northern neighbors than in past years. It seems the South has been less aggressive, allowing the Crab to focus more on the rest of the Empire.
