In normal times, these tastefully appointed rooms (one desk, one bed, one sword stand, one decoration of no more than 20 square inches), would house the offices and bedchambers of the administrative staff of Kyuden Ikoma. Because no Imperial was willing to miss cosying up to the new heir when they are named, nearly all of the Lion have been forced to give up their space to the massive Imperial delegation, which threatens to burst out of the Tenshu's seams. There are rumors--flatly denied by the Minister for Housing--that some Imperial samurai are even *gasp* doubling up.
Their new occupants being used to a certain lifestyle, the rooms are now much more richly decorated with wall hangings, priceless antiques ("this old thing?"), and fresh flower arrangements every day from the Ministry of Wellness and Spiritual Excellence.
Mechanics
The Imperial Bureaucracy is a very, very busy thing. Or at least so it appears. In order to simply walk in under your own power and receive the time of day, you must have a Status or Influence of at least 3. If you do not have either, then you may also come bearing a Letter of Introduction from a Delegation Head, an Imperial Officer, or any Imperial samurai. A Letter of Introduction will reduce the TNs of Etiquette (Bureaucracy)/Awareness rolls for dealing with the Imperial Machine by 5.
Character may also attempt to sneak past the Seppun and infiltrate the Imperial Apartments. This is a hazardous choice, and could result in injury or death. If this is what you want to do, post your method and a relevant roll, we will narrate what the Seppun are up to, and we can have us a good time. Hopefully everything works out!
