[D2 EA] Wind In Doubt Just Breeze Through It

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

Soon after finishing his piece before the court, the Mirumoto would find time to loom near a Doji. He took a few moments to take his hairpin out, and slide it into the green layers of silk kimono. His hair bun stayed intact but he rubbed it a few times to get some stray hairs going.

She looks shorter than I imagined.

The looming took too much energy so eventually he would bow to the very nice lady and introduce himself.

"Hello, I am Mirumoto Jinkan, a very cool person."

[Doji Noriko]

Doji Noriko turned to greet Jinkan with a bow, all the deeper to cover the slight widening of her eyes at his scars.

"Good afternoon, Mirumoto-san. I am Doji Noriko. I hope the afternoon finds you well."

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

"I am hoping nothing finds me anytime soon, Doji-sama." Jinkan began with a wry smile that was rather hideously twisted by his scars. He had not missed the movement.

"Why did you speak in support of my position?"

[Doji Noriko]

Noriko tilted her head slightly, her brows furrowed in concern. "I did explain at the time...you are familiar with the story of Lady Doji and the Snowstorm?"

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

"Doji-no-kami realizes that life is found in the impermanence of the world. The beggar is Shinsei, maybe, and one cannot count every snowflake. That story?" Jinkan raised an eyebrow as he spoke.

"Is Doji-sama saying something about paying back a lesson learned?"

[Doji Noriko]

"That is the one. It was a powerful lesson in its time, and I felt the Empire could stand to remember it now. And anyway, I had enough to spare."

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

"Well, I shouldn't analyze words spoken in support of me." Jinkan gave her another bow.

"You have my thanks on behalf of those who will be helped by your generosity. I know this Winter Court will likely be plagued by the birthpains of the next era, so before all sense gets lost in all the noise and circumstance, I would offer you a few words from my heart. You are smart. You are kind. You are good." The Mirumoto spoke softly and finished by patting his chest for emphasis.

[Doji Noriko]

She smiled, and for an instant it seemed as though rays of light emanated from her perfect face. But then it was over.

"I do what I am able, Mirumoto-san. Thank you. I think most people here would be far too self-conscious to speak what was in their heart."

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

"I have been blessed to only do my thinking after I have already done it, so it is all just confidence Doji-sama. No self required." Jinkan puffed up and squared his shoulders to strut around her like a peacock in green silk.

[Doji Noriko]

Another Wind might have been put off by the strutting, but Noriko could not help but chuckle in delight at the freedom Jinkan seemed to enjoy to express himself. It reminded her, in that moment, of her sons.

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

"Anyway, I am certain you are very busy juggling knives at the moment. I wish you the best of luck. If you have an interest in having your fortune read, I am staying in the Dragon House, and you have a standing invitation to join me for tea and kawaru." Jinkan stopped strutting to bow for her once again as her station demanded. He was not entirely certain what her future might be but it would be interesting.

[Doji Noriko]

Noriko considered for a moment. "I may have to take you up on that Mirumoto-san. In some senses my future has become very uncertain indeed." She returned the bow. "Please keep well, Mirumoto-san. I think we shall need your confidence more as court continues."
