Eiji coughed.

Shinnosuke's fan, held half-open in his left hand, flutters as he gives a small start. "Oh, pardon me," a glance at his interlocutor's clothing supplies a surname, "Soshi-san. Such unexpected news--I was quite distracted. Am quite distracted, really."

Am quite distracted, really."
The Soshi bowed respectfully.
"These are momentous times, Doji-san. When one is surrounded by the roar of a hurricane, it's hard to hear the chirp of the nightengale."
"This one is Soshi-ke no kashin Miura Eiji, it is a pleasure to stand beside you and witness such. Truly, a fifth wind of divine origin is....unexpected, to say the least." he offers as introduction to self and topic.

"It certainly is," Shinnosuke agrees, with emphasis. "It's like something out of a tale, isn't it? Or a history of the golden age, when the Kami walked the land."
He returns the bow. "I'm Tanaka Shinnosuke, of the Doji family." Though he's been making enough scenes around court in the last few days that it isn't impossible Eiji already knows that.

He had certainly watched the debate about the play with interest, but protocal was protocal.
"It is indeed, Doji-san. One can well envision the start of the story, 'The ailing Divine Empress with no heirs summoned forth the four who were best likely to succeed her and rule the empire with wisdom. And then there was a fifth who was borne by a fortune...."
Eiji tapped his fan consideringly.
"Some may well not appreciate the sudden addition of a fifth divine wind to the story as it were. Focusing a tale on four heroes, well themed with four winds, and then suddenly a ronin comes out of nowhere.....some may find that poor writing." he mused.
He looked at the Crane.
"What about yourself, Doji-san? Do you enjoy sudden twist heroes in your stories, or do you find that you fall in love with those presented and follow their exploits to the end?" he asked out of an artist's curiousity, but with a politician's intent.
