[D10 EE EVENT] Go Tournament: Audience

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

The square of boards is surrounded by a square of cushions and tables with light snacks and water arranged for the viewers of the matches and the participants when they are not playing. A variety of challenging problems have been laid out on boards in the galleries for individuals who are not currently playing a game or are interested in showing off their knowledge. There are also much easier problems for the benefit of those who are curious to learn.

(Post here for attendance. There are go problems set up for the audience to solve when not viewing a game or socializing, some hard, some easy. Audience members may roll Games:Go/Intelligence versus TN10, and call raises to indicate they are trying more difficult problems. The person or persons who solves the hardest problem (most called raises) will receive a special prize.)

[Agasha Yuna]

Having been eliminated in the first round in a very enjoyable match with Kitsu Sayomi, Yuna took her place in the audience, and cheered on Kitsu-san in her subsequent matches.

A friendly smile for Ryusei and Jihen also as their matches ended, encouraging them to join her in watching the rest of the tournament.

In the breaks between matches, she turned her attention to the audience puzzles.

She solved a puzzle of perhaps medium difficulty. (One raise called.) Oh, this was fun!


She was available for any watching the Go who wanted to chat.

[Shiba Ryusei]

Having been obliterated by the Badger in a delightful outing, Ryusei joined the audience.

So he worked on a puzzle- a difficult and therefore highly entertaining one! then drifted over to Yuna.

Nothing improper about an engaged couple watching a Go tournament.

He was.... quite pleased at Kenji's victory, since, having defeated Kenji the first time they'd played, it spoke volumes about the beauty of the game.

Every player here had a chance.

[Agasha Yuna]

Yuna smiled to have Ryusei near, and to admire his clever solution to the problem he had selected to work on.

Go was such a fascinating game.

That was definitely why she looked so enthralled.

[Hiruma Daichi]

Go was not Daichi's strong suit, far from it in fact. But then out in the field go pieces tended to get lost and disappear forever so it wasn't a very popular way to pass the time. Well, unless you were a fan of trying to find replacement go pieces amid a day of hoking.

He was not.

Still, he did find his way to the go tournament and was watching the games, making note of who was winning and those that hadn't done too well. It was kind of fun to watch after all and make imaginary bets on who would win.

[Shiba Ryusei]

Ryusei spotted the Crab and offered a polite bow.

Yuna smiled brightly to see Hiruma-san.

"Hiruma-san, I'm so glad you're here. Have you met Shiba Ryusei-san? He is my betrothed."

[Hiruma Daichi]

Daichi had been staring a hole in the go problems before him, something about them just reminded him about math. No wonder he didn't like go. The movement of the pair of Samurai caused him to look up and offer a polite bow to the pair. "Ah, yes. I've met Shiba-san."

"A couple of times in fact." He dipped his head politely to the pair. "Congratulations on the coming nuptials."

[Shiba Ryusei]

"Our thanks."

Ryusei shot a look at Yuna that was... proper. But barely.

"Hiruma-sama is an excellent swordsman, incidentally- I doubt he'd bring up, so I will."

He offered the Crab a second bow.

"And has the benefit of field experience that many lack. Do you play, Hiruma-sama? It's a recreation I greatly enjoy."

[Agasha Yuna]

"I enjoy Go very much also."

"And you are a fine swordsman? Did you two participate in a bushi event with the chance to show off such skills?"

"I have heard bushi find Go useful in training for strategic thinking in battle, but I have no real experience to judge if that is so."

[Hiruma Daichi]

"Just some light training, still I thank you for the compliment Shiba-san.' He replied with a respectful nod at the other man. "As for my skills, well you will have to trust your betrothed on this as I only tend to say my skills are adequate to perform the duties asked of me."

At their question he hesitated a moment before answering. "Honestly, I'm not much of a fan and don't play regularly, it's always seemed like a bit of a cumbersome hobby to keep up with if one moves around a lot. I do enjoy watching though, and I understand why some use it as training for strategic thinking."

"My sensei just used a more hands-on approach."

[Shiba Ryusei]

Ryusei grinned.

"I find its specific applications a bit limited, it's more the mindset it encourages. Still. It you find it cumbersome, I could show you a travel set sometime..."

The grin was joined by a wink.

"But I doubt I'll make a devoted player of you in the time we have left in Court, so I'll thank you for attending the event anyway. Akodo-san is in brilliant form today."

[Hiruma Daichi]

"I was going to say it's likely wiser to convince me it's worth my time to take it with me through play rather than try and but me a good set for the road." Daichi replied with a wry smile.

"You are right in there is not much time for that though." He glanced towards the players. "Akodo-san does seem like he did quite well, one could say such is expected from a member of his family though as his rival is another one of his clanmates."

[Agasha Yuna]

"The Lion definitely are the masters of Go today. They both played superbly throughout the matches."

"I quite enjoyed playing Kitsu-san."

"It is nice how these events like the play, the art show, the picnic, the Go tournament ... it gives us a chance to connect with other delegates. To discover ways that we are alike. Commonalities. Friendships in the making."

"It gives me hope for peace and prosperity."

[Shiba Ryusei]

"The empire is definitely stronger together. And it's very... educational, seeing people from all over. Even in its heyday, Shiro Shigi only really saw visitors from north of the Crane lands. This has been... eye-opening."

[Hiruma Daichi]

Had anyone every come to House Tetsumura's lands? Other than his fellow Crab and goblins? Daichi thought it best not to bring up. "I tend to prefer treaties to hope as far as peace goes." The Crab replied with a wry smile.

"It has been nice to meet samurai from all over the Empire though and begin to start cultivating some friendships."
