D8LE, Soaking the Old Bones (Open)

[Seppun Tomaru]

"I'll look forward to the invitation," Tomaru replies. "It's been a while since I've been to Phoenix lands, so it'll be nice to get back."

He considers.

"To be fair, the Lady Seppun did actually assign me to door watch before," and he waves his hand in a gesture of all of this. "Helps to know a few of the tricks involved."

[Shiba Ryusei]

"Hm. Well. Might not all Seppun taked with guard duty pull a watch on the door?"

[Seppun Tomaru]

"Yes," Tomaru notes, "and there is rotation, certainly--among the sentries."

He shrugs, lifts his hands out of the water to gesture to his face and white hair.

"Less so among supervision, for reasons I'm sure you can understand. And for reasons I'm sure you can understand, relief isn't as abundant as might otherwise have been expected. So we're managing."

[Shiba Ryusei]

"Hm. Might not.... 'managing' be a concern?"

As a Shiba, Ryusei understood some of what went into the Seppun's duties.

Enough to know that security wasn't something best left to "managing."

[Seppun Tomaru]

"It might," Tomaru admits. "But we only have the numbers we have, so we do what we must."

He shrugs.

"Nothing else for it, really."

[Shiba Ryusei]

That... got a frown.

As a Shiba, Ryusei understood some of what went into the Seppun's duties.. And he also knew, as a Shiba, that no one else could do what the Hidden Guard did.

"As you say, Seppun-sama."

[Seppun Tomaru]

"Yeah," Tomaru replies.

He settles back in the bath, takes, holds, and releases a deep breath.

[Shiba Ryusei]

Once, Ryusei might have found the silence uncomfortable.

But not this one.

Instead, he, too simply soaked and relaxed for a time.
