I am called Yasuki Ryoichi, and I have heard that you may be in attendance at Winter Court this season. I, too, have been fortunate enough to be chosen to attend, and it is my hope that we may establish friendly relations between our families and our clans.

With every clan sending so many of their finest courtiers to attend upon the court, it’s my belief that it will be important to have friends and allies among other clans in order to be successful this season. Perhaps in this way, we can make our future brighter than our past. If you feel likewise, I hope that we can become better acquainted at court, and discuss possibilities for cooperation.

The reply comes on fairly old but well-kept paper in a yellow-gold. The calligraphy is neat, precise, and decisive.

I was a bit surprised, but pleased to receive your gracious letter.

Cooperation between the Clans in service to the Throne is, of course, a harmonious goal, and I look forward to discussing it with you in person- do you by any chance play Go? I find it makes a fine icebreaker.
