Adjustments to Advantages
Allies can be purchased at devotion and loyalty 1, 2, 3, or 4.
Characters with an Influence rank of 3 or higher can purchase allies at a 1-point discount.
Dark Edge Native is not available
Different School: Yasuki Courtier is available to Crane characters for two fewer XP, representing still-lingering familial ties across Clan lines. Crane schools are available to Yasuki characters for two fewer XP for the same reasons. You will want to have a good explanation as to how your character's house maintained access to that schooling.
MS's advantage Extra Equipment is available.
Extra Equipment (material) 3 points:
You have been given extra equipment by your lord. Choose one weapon, one suit of armor, or a horse and add the chosen equipment to your starting package. You may choose to swap out a similar item for the new equipment if you wish (by exchanging light armor for heavy armor, for instance).
Forbidden Knowledge: Gaijin Pepper is now available for 4 pts, rather than 5. White Stag was just 1 generation ago.
Forbidden Knowledge: Kolat is now available to Yasuki characters for 4 points, rather than 5. The Daimyo of the Yasuki was exposed as a Kolat Master and assassinated by his own relations during the chaos of the Yasuki War. The Yasuki then spent some years tearing out as much of the conspiracy as they could find--and they found a lot. Forbidden Knowledge: Kolat does not represent actual membership in the conspiracy. Indeed, there is not much of a conspiracy left to be a part of. There will be no Kolat members accepted as PCs in this game.
Forbidden Knowledge: Gozoku is now available for 4 pts, rather than 5. The Gozoku Conspiracy was a mere 2 generations ago, but is still largely taboo to discuss openly. This advantage would represent knowledge of the details of the conspiracy and its undoing. General knowledge is at this point limited to knowing the names of the leaders and a general sense that the Crane and Scorpion did something really, really naughty a few generations ago.
Forbidden Knowledge: Lying Darkness is not available. The Lying Darkness has not revealed itself to Goju.
Forbidden Knowledge: Maho is available, but you cannot play a Bloodspeaker; they do not exist yet.
Gaijin Gear is now available for 4 points for all clans, and 3 points for Mantis and Tortoise characters, provided the gaijin culture in question is Merenae or Thrane. Parading Gaijin gear around is scandalous, however, and subject to Infamy accrual.
Gentry (Rixy's mod): For every two XP you spend on this advantage, you get a point (NOT rank) of Status (rounded up). While in a sense all landed samurai are gentry because of the house rules, this represents your personal responsibility for a particular place or source of wealth.
Imperial City Citizen/Veteran are not available
Imperial Spouse is not available for Crane characters, and costs 1 additional point for Scorpion characters.

Scorpion only. You are the recipient of a Shadow Brand, a shifting mass of shadowy tattoos that gives you potent abilities relating to darkness. You gain a +1k1 bonus to all your Stealth rolls, but you also begin the game with three points of Shadow Corruption. For five points, you begin the game with one full Rank of Shadow Corruption.
Note: This is the only way in-game of accessing Shadow Corruption, as the events surrounding Hantei X's order to dissolve the Scorpion spy organization has not yet occurred, and therefore Goju and the Grass have not encountered the Lying Darkness.
