I hope the Empress of Nyankugan is pleased with Shiori's service. I don't why I decided that Shoiri was so inept with pets but she's very much willing to learn! She was sure to offer her some of the fish she caught on the fishing trip!

1. Did Daichi change much from concept to execution?

Not particularly, Crab are supposed to be slightly more honorable and less pragmatic so I tried to aim for that.

2. Biggest curveball the game threw you?

The fact nothing was decided. Was happy Daichi found people to loathe in Otomo Mariko and The Shiba Champion. Characters really grow when they have people to dislike.

3. Biggest curveball Daichi threw you?

None particularly. He's an honorable man and does try to do the honorable thing. Honor alone doesn't always get the job done though.

4. PC you missed interacting with that you wish Daichi had logged some time with?

Most of them. I had limited time and most of that was set aside for deals. Would of liked to spend more time role-playing in general.

5. Stoic characters can be tough to run in a social milieu. Did you find this tough or rewarding?

That's a weird question to me, samurai are supposed to be fairly stoic even in a social setting. So it was kind of just playing as usual.

Did I ever tell you about the other kyogen script I read while planning the play event (but didn't use) that featured a Crab Spirit mercilessly pinching a couple of monks until they run away? Because that's all I can think about after reading your Q&A title.

How did Daichi feel about being surrounded by all these foppish courtiers? Because even some of us that meant well were pretty darn foppish. Did he have any particular hopes or ambitions for his big Winter Court, and did he get any of them?

The Empress is well pleased with the services of the undersecretary of scritches. She expects you to report promptly to Castle Tetsumura on your return to Crab lands and continue your work.

In other news Shiori and Nyoko was fun! I wish I'd had a bit more time to play around with the dynamic.

Thanks for the scenes. Due to my inability to really get into the game early on (because flu), I feel like Daichi was the one I managed to have some chemistry and interesting conversation with.

Did Daichi hope to escape marriage this season, in an attempt to be a bachelor for a bit longer?
Which Wind did he favor in the end?
Eager to raze the Phoenix lands with the Lion?

You did not! I like that script though, very relatable. I too would pinch monks if given the option.

Daichi was prepared for the foppishness, so it didn't bother him much. He wasn't prepared for all of the pointlessness though and people in positions they probably shouldn't be. Mariko is one example. He wasn't the biggest fan of Sadako either? Or Tooru, or Keihime. Miya Hachi is fine in his book though.

Daichi came to court to help better his families standing, with three marriages and a possible emerald yoriki I'm hoping it does the family some good. Not to mention all the various influence he acquired in the game.

Daichi Was hoping to get married this season, which was one of the reasons he was at court. It was also one of the reasons he visited Mariko several times. He was looking for a woman with courtly skills to marry as he hoped to bring more political power to house Tetsumura. The fact that Mariko couldn't or wouldn't find a status 1 to 3 courtier from a great clan as an option for him to marry was one of the big reasons he thought she was useless. Premier Matchmaker in the land and your options are Bushi, Minor Clan Bushi, and Minor clan Courtier? Eventually an Imperial courtier was offered for Daichi to marry into the Seppun. At that point he didn't really consider it an option though. Then there is also the whole thing with the Trio match that didn't set with him well either. Mariko gets a 1/2 star rating on nakodo yelp from him. Needs to be retired and replaced with someone competent


Sayomi kind of fit the bill, but I was pretty much of the opinion that Dachi would go home unmarried. Until suddenly he was engaged.

Windwise. Noriko or Gorobei. He feels some of the misfortune in the Empire is due to Retsuhime marrying a lion instead of a Crane so there is a hope in returning to the status quo things will improve. Gorobei is unmarried, and Noriko is Basically the result of proper imperial matches to the Crane clan. So, he would be fine with either. Keihime is just a picture-perfect example of imperial uselessness and greed. Tatsuya obviously can't control his coward son so can't control an empire. Tomaru isn't a terrible choice but once Daichi learns that one of his kids was adopted by Keihime he goes into not an option territory either. If your own family will leave you for greed, that's pretty telling.

As for the Phoenix lands, in reality Daichi is of the opinion that Higashime has let her pride in her knowledge of the law not her principals color her judgement. In doing so she has failed Rokugan and its people. Seppuku would be a kindness for her, though execution would also be acceptable. Does he plan to pursue that? Not presently. It is fun to joke around about invading Phoenix lands though.

OMG I was so glad when Daichi took over talking to the Imperial Matchmaker. Ryoichi had to spend a Void Point in every single conversation with her, and Mariko pretty clearly had her own ideas of who she wanted to match with whom, that had little relationship with what we actually were trying to accomplish.

I'm glad we had similar feelings on the matter.

Daichi's advice to future Crab going to Imperial Court. "Just don't bother working with the Imperial Matchmaker if you can avoid it."

If ever asked by Miya Hachi why a marriage never happened, he will report it was not the Crab at fault. Imperials looked to go zero marriages this season for a reason

Took a while to consider it. But probably a chat about the Punishments for the Lion that were at fault and other punishments that should have happened.

Daichi is of the same mind as Eiji that the Seppun did need to be punished for thier failures along with the Lion. Even if it was only a wrist slap of sorts. A wind was assaulted, the Imperial throne was destroyed, heck there was even a gaki of an old emperor running around. Handling a lot of that was on the Seppun, and the fact that nothing happened there didn't set well with Daichi.

It's the main reason he wasn't too impressed with Sadako. She seemed pretty bad at her job. Which also in a way reflected poorly on Tomaru.
