On a phone about to get on a plane, but I’ll throw this up here.

Became aware of the game a little late. Saw the House rules and got intimidated with the game starting like a day or two later. Asked the GMs a few questions and landed on playing a monk.

I’d played some monk NPCs a long time ago in a galaxy far away… and the time period of this one was about one generation before the guys I had played. So I kinda just pondered a bit how their predecessors might have acted and went with that.

1. Pretty close to concept. The concept wasn’t the most fleshed out one ever due to time constraints. I wanted to play him human. So having a quiet crush on Sadako and having some mild ambition here and there helped with that. An earnest and generally amicable guy who genuinely believes the stuff he’s committed to, but also has flesh and blood like a normal person without being a total pervert or deviant.

2.The game? Probably the ‘tea incident.’ I ended up getting a fair amount of heat for that too from the PC rumors and stuff. It was fun to interact with Chou-sin about it though and be all passive-aggressive disappointed in his master’s choices.

3. Jihen? Hmmm… I suppose his growing willingness to speak up. The first time he argued for anything was essentially, “Please don’t take away our donations… we always do a good job with them.” And then there was a big dogpile on him. The next day he got insulted a bunch in and out of threads and realized that he’d have to continue to have his voice be heard since everyone seemed so intent on silencing it.

4. Hmmm… hard one. Maybe Masaki? The suggestion she had in the final debate fell closely with what Jihen thought was best. I admit that I hadn’t read much of Masaki’s stuff but there was probably a reason behind the type of solution she presented.

5. A few stand out… Sadako Kiho training and poetry. Stories about flatulence and savior turtles. Buddhist Statecraft talk with Yuna and Ryusei. Covering the bases of romance, comedy, and politics.

6. Being born to a Seppun. Having a private desire for family since he grew up in the temple. Being an Imperial partisan but looking around the other imperials and seeing… problems. That being said… he’s not necessarily a ride-or-die for Tomaru. He thinks Noriko is a lovely person that if she didn’t have commitments to a clan would be a great option. And were she to become the option selected… he’d be happy to support her.

I really enjoyed our scenes!

Director's Cut Question: Think back on the game as a whole. If you could go back, and add just one more scene with our characters in it, what would it be? What are they doing/talking about?

Jihen destroying Eiji in an epic diss rap battle once Jihen learned how much shade you were casting all over the place!

But more seriously? I dunno… probably talking about stories again.
