“If you will permit me to take a little more of the Court’s time,” Yasuki Ryoichi said apologetically. “I’d like to revisit yesterday’s proposal for the Asahina to send a delegation to study plague readiness and disease treatment, which was approved by this Court.”

“It’s my opinion that this is an extremely praiseworthy cause, and I would like to propose that the head of that Asahina delegation should be appointed to the position of Assistant Imperial Physician for Disease Treatment. This position would be charged with protecting the Imperial families - and, specifically, the next Emperor or Empress - against disease of all kinds, and otherwise promoting good practices for disease control."

Perhaps he was being paranoid. Perhaps he was not, but after stepping back to counter his clanmates proposal Daichi strode towards the other man knowing it was possible he was going to make a scene.

The Yasuki returned a similar hand gesture, visible to Daichi but partly concealed from the rest of the Court by his fan.

"What's this about, Hiruma-gunso?" he said in a low, guarded voice. "I thought we talked about this and people liked the idea. Now you oppose it?"

"Hida's Heir." He said quietly, his right hand raising to hold up two fingers

"What's this about, Hiruma-gunso?" he said in a low, guarded voice. "I thought we talked about this and people liked the idea. Now you oppose it?"

The 'other' Yasuki joined the pair as well, a quick, disarming smile to then both before her eyes turn back to the dais. Two fingers go up in her right hand as well, hidden by the fan now held with her left hand as it covers part of her face.

"Some circumstances have changed since yesterday, Shiozaki-san - perhaps unfortunately so. The heart of your idea is still in the right place, but we'll need to be careful for now." Another warm smile to them both, a clear sign of an offer to make amends. "We might be able to bring this up again in one or two days, the Fortunes allowing".

Her eyes shift to the Crane delegation for a moment. "I assume you brought this up with them already? We may want to talk to then about these changed circumstances as well."

"Some circumstances have changed since yesterday, Shiozaki-san - perhaps unfortunately so. The heart of your idea is still in the right place, but we'll need to be careful for now."

"And the fieldcraft signs?" Ryoichi said tightly. "In Imperial Court? Just what is it that you think is going on?"

"Safety first, always", she answers in a murmur, her eyes on the dais. "Better safe than not, you know the drill - I'm sure the lessons were similar in Shiozaki lands, ne?. "

A quick, small, but friendly smile. Her voice lowers even more then. "Especially with the change in circumstances possibly needing such caution more than just our usual. We can speak after court". A reassuring nod.

[Hiruma Daichi]

"Safety first always." Daichi confirmed with a nod. "It is as Kawagoi-san said though. Things have changed and while we did agree something would be wise, I didn't think this was exactly what you had in mind."

[Yasuki Ryoichi]

"Very well," Ryoichi nodded, mollified. "It looks like the subject is settled for today. Let us regroup and see what we can bring to Court tomorrow."

[Hiruma Daichi]

"Indeed." Daichi agreed with a nod. "Maybe we can make something work with what you mentioned, it may just need a bit more ironing out."
