Sayomi nodded approvingly at the agreement presented by Asahina Hoshiko. It would be interesting to see more cooperation between the shugenja families of the Empire.

A certain Yasuki manoeuvred to a position a bit closer to the Lion delegation, and specifically to Sayomi, and made a discreet gesture with her blue-on-blue fan, as if indicating she would like a word if possible.

Seeing the gesture, Sayomi acknowledged the Yasuki with a bow.

"Yasuki-sama. I hope Inari-kami has blessed you today?"

The Yasuki likewise bows to Sayomi. "The guardian of rice has been most kind, thank you, Kitsu-san. And please, we're very close in standing, I trust there's no need for such formality, ne?", she nods with a disarming smile. "I've heard much about you, but I believe this is the first time we talk directly, ne? A great pleasure."

The fan covers her mouth as she speaks next. "I was glad to see some support to Kitsune-sama - even if the worries Kaiu-dono raise are of course important. Given our shared support, I'd like to ask - you apparently did a good deal of research on the matter. Did you find any information on the state of Kitsune Fumihito-sama during your investigation?"

"Ah, of course, Yasuki-san," she stands corrected on the honorific. It was simply a habit in this environment for her to assume most were of higher standing than herself. "Likewise, I have heard much about you. You have been very successful this court from all my impressions." A small smile features on her face as she bows slightly to emphasize her respect for Masaki's skill and talent.

Her own fan raised slightly, allowing them a modicum of 'private' conversation. "Most of my research were focused on the legalities and other precedents like it that had occurred. I wasn't able to learn much directly about him, apart from what Kitsune-sama herself shared, and what your kinsman, Hiruma Daichi-sama, learned by speaking with some Fox samurai at the docks."

And there's nothing to suggest he'd be opposed to his sister handling the Clan so he could focus on that connection... but I wonder if this opinion is shared by others in Fox lands."

"It is my impression that most would welcome Aiko-sama's leadership in official capacity," she replies, speaking from her own experience from the meetings with the Kitsune regent, "and according to herself, that yes most would welcome it, but there would always be dissident voices. As she said it ' she could be serving sake by the bottle to everyone and some would still complain it ain't shochu '." Sayomi shows a wry smile at that, understanding where Aiko's words were coming from.

"As for Lord Fumihito... from what she speaks of, it reminds me of some similar maladies I have seen befall members of the Kitsu as well. Those who become too connected to the other worlds beyond the veil of our own. Forgive me, I am no shugenja myself, and can only speak from my own meager understanding of it. But without knowing the full details myself, he seems often unable to fathom what is happening in this realm, because the call of the others is too strong for him to ignore." There was a sympathetic look in her eyes. "Sometimes the blessings one is bestowed is too much and becomes more a curse, I suppose."

The Yasuki nods at her words. "Un... based on the few who mentioned his condition, it did sound a lot like a curse." Her eyes look part worried, part sad - the rest of her face is covered by the fan and doesn't help much in clarifying the expression. "Maybe it's an instinct borne out of training, but the first reaction this draws is to try to find out more... if his connection became this, and he's drawn to the forest enough for this to interfere with other duties, perhaps he's dealing with something important by himself..."

She shakes her head slightly, her eyes indicating a faint smile coming back to her face. "But that is not something we can do right now, ne? What we could do is try to ensure Kaiu-dono's worries do not come to pass. Internecine war is a terrible thing, ne?"
