[Day 3, EA] Court: the Galleries

Sae's eyes widened to the bounds of propriety, the Boar had how much? And they were trading all of that away?

Sweet fortunes, the Yasuki reputation was well earned indeed. Deep down, the Daidoji part of her respected the hustle.

Yuna raised her fan to cover her expression. A mention of an attack into guest's living quarters ... in court? In front of the Empress?

She kept her eyes focused on a fixed point. No eye contact. No reaction.

Returning to the galleries after his presentation, Yasuki Ryoichi bowed politely to Heichi Batsuda again and expressed his gratitude for their collaboration on the treaty that had just been approved.

"But indeed, as a saying goes "A rising tide raises all ships." He regards the pair of Crab. "At some point, a sign of good faith needed to be extended. I am happy to assist in that way"

"Well, then: may I present my distinguished colleague, the most excellent Yasuki Masaki of House Kawagoi," Ryoichi said, gesturing towards Masaki with his fan.

Turning to her, he motioned toward Hikaru and said, "Kawagoi-san, may I present the most honorable Doji Hikaru of House Ikehara. His family's lands are not so far from ours, along the eastern coast."

"Doji-san has been working with me on the possibility of cooperation with the Crane," Ryoichi added. "It's been, ahh, difficult to work out some of the fine details sufficiently well to satisfy the needs of both Clans. But I remain hopeful."

"Yasuki-san, might I say that you look lovely. Almost like a painting, except you know, somehow better because you can move to show different sides. Might I have a word?" The Mirumoto bowed and gestured to a semi-empty section of the court where they could grab a bite and talk.

Ryusei, waiting to present his own business, opened his fan in some surprise.

The Crane airing an attempted breach of their guest quarters in front of the entire Court, raising security concerns, and then offering to help the Lion investigate the business was...

Well, it was a choice.

Having withstood the machinations of Phoenix and Lion both Sae bowed even deeper to the Court and made a polite withdrawal.

It was not a tasking she had expected, nor was the timeframe ideal, but duty was duty.

Earthquakes and now intruders? Perhaps the Phoenix quarters, need some rearranging. Think of being back in the library, some nice, safe scrolls around you...

The small Phoenix's brow had the slightest of furrow to it and her hand jittered just a little bit as she took notes on the proceedings.

All right, this calls for a nice, boring topic.

Between the earthquake, the move against Tomaru, and this latest Crane/Lion flap with us getting involved...

Shinnosuke raises his fan (left-handed) and glances left and right at the other Crane in court, gauging in particular the reactions of his clan's more experienced hands like Minehime, Noriko, and Sae. From the arch of his brows, he finds the Phoenix announcement a bit surprising. It seems so... nakedly commercial, not even a little puffery about an alliance or forging the bonds of kinship. But perhaps that's usual in agreements involving the Crab? He's not quite sure how to react. Thank the Heavens for fans!
