The sticks and coins make no sense...at first. They are a confused jumble that promise both imminent death and endless prosperity, tremendous weal and the deepest woe. But as he stares at them, Jinkan's perception begins to change, and the sticks and coins begin to move. By the time they have finished, inching and twitching as they go, they form a great spiral, twisting endlessly inward. And in the center of that spiral, Jinkan sees a great well into which the light drops and is swallowed eternally. And and its very bottom, Jinkan sees a strange sight. A plum, resting, half-eaten, in a sphere of crystal, which rests in the center of a great golden claw.

And then he wakes, to find the sticks and coins have returned to their bag, and that Togashi Mizohachi sits across from him, watching him carefully.

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

Jinkan's face began with narrowed eyes. Then a soft smile. A stern frown. Eyes wide with surprise. A yawn. Furious glare. He cycled through every expression his scarred skin could manage. Only his eyes remained unblinking, staring into the eyes in front of him.

Finally he moved from his cushion to bow as low as physically possible to the other man.

"Do you need to me to say what I saw or did you see it yourself?" He asked while still down there, face fixed to the floor.

[Togashi Mizohachi]

"I suspect that I have before, and will again." He--It?--no, probably he straightens out a kink in his aging back. "I have certainly seen the look on your face before. You may rise, Mirumoto Jinkan. It wouldn't do to give the whole game away."

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

"I have so many questions." The Mirumoto said once he reoriented himself upward. He picked up a pot of tea that had shaken itself to the edge of the table and poured some into a cup which he presented to the Togashi. He did not take any himself.

"Will you answer a trivial one that I just can't shake?" Jinkan asked

[Togashi Mizohachi]

"Perhaps. It very much depends."

[Mirumoto Jinkan]

"How does one not finish the plum?" Jinkan asked with his eyebrows quizzing.

[Togashi Mizohachi]

"Metaphors can be difficult to digest," Mizohachi replies, "And I do not understand everything just yet."
