In 'A Disturbance in the Force':

In Stage 3 where it says that Benten's Blessing applies. Does that also apply for the Meditation/Void option?

If we use that option will it restore VP like Meditation normally does? Or shall we need to do it at another time?

No. You're not really centering yourself, there. You're struggling with cosmic forces.

A few questions of the Surprise Inspection thread:

1) Does one person need to roll for each part or do we all need to roll?
2) There's an awful lot of low skill/emphasis stuff...does this count as doing something for the glory/goals of the Lion being that it is a mission from the Empress herself?

1) One person can handle Stage 1 and one person can handle Stage 2. Stage 3 is more labor-intensive.
2) I think, given recent events in Court, this could be taken as supporting the goals of the Lion clan, as shifting and confused as those are at the moment.

I'm assuming that the Kakita Emerald Champion is a Kakita Bushi for the +1 court action for the same school?

On D5 and D6, can we assume we have full void? It may not much matter since there is no court but just to keep track and be on the same page.

I've got a question/suggestion about the procedure for getting Clan treaties and deals made, when you've got time for that: viewtopic.php?f=71&t=555&p=6274#p6274

[Otomo Mariko advances her position, that the marriage should be struck from the deal. She calls 1 raise. +15 Court points for Otomo Mariko. TN to refute: 31]
This is a part that I want to check on and I apologize because this becomes multiple parts

Must a provision tacked on like this be completely refuted to have it removed ? Does it need to be reach a threshold to be passed?

And by my math it would take passing a TN 36 check to wipe out the points? And failure would only remove the Court points from the player, not the measure itself?

So the point is made, which means that Hajime (or the Empress, if she intervenes), could just slap that on there if he feels like it. However, he may also ignore it if he wants to. [This is why it was a really good idea to wait for Hajime, instead of trying to do this while Rumiko or Keihime were running the show].

Generally, if a point is completely refuted (all the points are subtracted), then I won't have the presider pass it unless it's a point that touches one of their core interests. This would have been a core interest for Keihime, for example. Probably not so much for Rumiko.

There is no threshold for passage of a point. It comes down to what the presider thinks is appropriate. If it's a core interest, they may not care if it only gets one Court Action's worth of points. If it isn't, they will tend to go with whatever has the highest number of court points by the time they decide to wrap up debate.

To totally knock out all of her points, you would need to call 1 raise (to reach -15), which would mean a TN of 36. More than one person can refute her position, though. In that case, each person would be rolling at TN 31 unless they called a raise.

As to your last question, in a sense those two things are congruent. We track the points by her name, but because anyone supporting that point is giving their points to her, she stands in for the position itself.

Thanks that's really helpful. Is it possible to alter an alteration? Such as "Ahhh yes Lady Matchmaker, you are indeed correct that you were not consulted as no particular individuals have been selected. Upon passage, it would be under your authority to pair an appropriate couple under the provisions listed"

Or break out into a rendition of the wedding from Fiddler on the Roof.

It may not be necessary i am just curious

You could make the case for that being another position or a refutation.

We probably won't track things as closely as "this position is a modifier of that position, but not the other positions," because in the end the presider has to cobble together a resolution out of everything anyway.

Well, good 'cause I rolled a failure but hadn't finished the post yet
Might wanna check with the gms if that toasts it then. My reading was that any fail scrubbed the event, but it didn't look like there was a limit to the number of people who could do a step.
