Re: Questions for the GMs
A question about influencing the sumai wrestlers.
Is it the 1st person who makes a successful influence roll locks that one down? (And others reading the thread will know that.) I.e., a race.
Or is it some kind of you better call raises because people can 'out influence' you over the period of it? And the single person with the most Sakaku luck nails it? i.e., a competition with one PC winning each wrestler with a single big roll.
Or does each wrestler keep a little tab and if 2 people influence and both say 'X wind', even without knowing about each other, that is adding to the balance, and the wind mentioned the most times, with the most successes/raises from multiple people added together gets the nod? i.e., a competition where your influence adds to the 'bank' even if you don't have the biggest roll?

Re: Questions for the GMs
I have a few questions about this one if it was passed5) Quash Debate- The PC may expend a court action to bring court to a close. Doing so will require an Awareness / Courtier, Awareness / Etiquette, Awareness / Perform: Oratory, Awareness / Perform: Storytelling, or Willpower / Intimidation roll, the TN of which is equal to 20 + the basic TN set by the presider. It is a Contested Social Skill roll. Success causes the court meeting to end; each Raise on the roll earns 5 Court Points. Failure on the roll obliges the petitioning PC to leave the court meeting, forfeiting all earned Court Points from that meeting. Failure on a roll with called Raises additionally loses the PC Honor equivalent to a major breach of etiquette (Core pg. 91).
Note that the presider may do this at will, with no roll.
1) By 'bring court to a close' does this mean the entire court for the day or simple ending the current debate?
2) What happens to the current debate happening at that time?

Re: Questions for the GMs
That can do one of two things:
1) It can bring a debate to a premature close.
2) It can end the court session completely.
It depends on what the person quashing is trying to achieve, and they ought to make it clear in their post. Generally, we are looking at the 1st option, because we would like to be able to service as many proposals as possible. However, option 2 is a possibility.
In either case, that option terminates debate. The motion is simply void. Any court points generated already apply in their normal way, but no practical political effect occurs. Whatever was being talked about is over without a judgment from the presider.
A quashed proposal could be re-submitted on another court day. That'd be the only remedy to this maneuver.
As an example: the Empress did this to the debate on Seppun Tomaru's job in the Hidden Guard on D2.

It's the 3rd one. No one has rolled influence yet, but we'll keep score based on Wind, not on PC contributor. Contributors can roll multiple times, depending on how many timeslots they want to donate to the effort.Agasha Yuna wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 10:35 pmA question about influencing the sumai wrestlers.

As an important addendum to the above, please understand that option 2, ending a court session completely, is an extreme maneuver. It will have repercussions for your character, some of them possibly extreme, depending on who you inconvenience, and you will definitely inconvenience someone.Cearnach wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 11:04 pmThat can do one of two things:

If a player starts trying to shut down all court dates, they will be banned for antisocial behavior. There's no call for that.

Re: Questions for the GMs
Do Raises do anything on the rolls to influence the wrestlers, or just one success on the flat TN = one point for your Wind in that wrestler's mind?Cearnach wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 11:09 pmIt's the 3rd one. Re: Questions for the GMs
Oops! Unfortunate oversight. Rules have been updated to reflect that a success on that check is 1 influence point. Every 2 called raises earns another.

For helping the poor old man carry buckets, I just wanted to confirm that there is no benefit to raises for any roll except the last one.
